Do Unfortunate Times Mean You Are A Sinner?

Something that everyone should be mindful of is the perspective that can be developed when we spot someone who is going through a hard time.

For example, if someone is an outcast in the community, does that mean that they have sinned in against God and their sad life is a reflection of their punishment?

The answer is No. Just because life is going terrible for someone it does not mean that God is mad at them.

How do I know this? Because I have read the book of Job in the Holy Bible.

In Job’s story, God says (1:8) “Have you noticed my servant Job? He is the finest man in all the Earth. He is blameless – a man of complete integrity. He fears God and stays away from Evil.”

In spite of these compliments that God gives to Job, God still allows Job to experience several waves of devastating loss.

But, Job did nothing to bring this upon himself. It’s just something that God allowed to happen.

And, I think that we have to keep that in mind.

Why do people suffer?

I honestly believe that God puts people in hard situations because He uses those situations to judge the hearts of those who look on.

If a Christian sees someone in poverty – are they sympathetic or are they judging?

Many times, people judge and don’t even realize it.

Or, they don’t give a resource because they may not approve of how the resource may be used.

To speak to someone who is going through a hard time – I am also experiencing an unfortunate situation. I blamed myself for it and I gave myself a hard time – assuming that I was doing something wrong for God to place this situation on me.

But then I look at my life, my decisions, and my relationship with God and I see that I am a friend of Him. He Loves me. I didn’t do anything wrong. This is just what I am dealing with right now.

Hard situations are an opportunity for your spiritual relationship with God to become stronger.

I am becoming stronger because I know in my heart, I believe and have faith that this situation will not always be true for me and my family.

And I hope that if you are going through a hard situation, that your situation will also be going away from you soon.
